Unlimited Possibilities: Using Next Generation UHPLC and Column Chemistries to Cross Chromatographic Boundaries

Discover how the separation and detection capabilities of the Thermo Scientific™ Vanquish™ UHPLC platform deliver unsurpassed results. System performance will be demonstrated by a distinguished research team at the University of Michigan who explore the performance limits of UHPLC with various column formats, and who use Vanquish as a routine UHPLC together with the high resolution MS in their applied research.

Speakers: Dr Frank Steiner, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Germany; Dr. James Grinias, University of Michigan

Wednesday, June 22 | 12:20 – 1:20 p.m.

Unlocking Biomolecular Secrets: Comprehensive Biopharmaceutical Characterization Workflows

We will discuss a number of tools used to help in advancing research in aggregate, glycan, charge variant, peptide sequence and intact mass analysis of monoclonal antibodies. You will also get firsthand insights on how the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Biosimilar Characterization develops these workflows further to uncover a more in depth understanding of protein chromatography and protein column characterization.

Speakers: Dr Rowan Moore, Thermo Fisher Scientific, UK; Prof Christian G Huber, Paris Lodron University Salzburg, Austria

Ion Chromatography Tutorial

June 23 | 1:15 – 2:30 p.m.
Yerba Buena Ballroom Salons 5/6, floor lower B2 level

High Pressure Ion Chromatography: Past, Present and Future
This tutorial will cover the history of High Pressure Ion Chromatography (HPIC), review the current state-of-the-art and look at possible future developments. HPLC and HPIC have seen a steady trend toward smaller particle size and shorter columns. This tutorial will review the reasons behind the slower rate of change for HPIC and describe the factors necessary to achieve parity with HPLC with respect to particle size. It will also review the range of HPIC materials currently available, provide application examples and look at possible progress areas.
