Webinar 4: Asbestos: Not Just for TEMs

Watch today!

Asbestos fibers are inhalable and durable, making them a threat to human respiratory health. Efficient detection and accurate classification of potential asbestos fibers is key to protecting people from hazardous exposure. Traditional classification – established over 30 years ago – is performed manually in a transmission electron microscope with very basic EDS detector technology.

While the established technique is well-accepted within both scientific and legal forums, it suffers from several limitations. The advent of low-cost and more mobile (i.e. table top) SEMs, coupled with advanced EDS technology, now enables accurate asbestos characterization. It requires much less up front capital and provides a higher analytical throughput within a possibly mobile instrument.

This webinar reviews the tools available within the Thermo Scientific™ NORAN™ System 7 EDS system and how these tools, coupled with the appropriate SEM, could revolutionize the science of asbestos analysis.
